Happi Days and Peaceful Nights await you in the heart of God's Country. Here at Happi Days Campground and Diner we are located close to all the things you like to do in Northern Michigan: HorseBack Riding, Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Biking, ATV/ORV trail riding, Snowmobiling, Picking Mushrooms or Berries, Canoeing, Kayaking, or just riding through the many State Forest roads enjoying the forest and wildlife.
After a day of fun and activity, you can come back to Happi Days and enjoy the peace and quiet of the evening while you relax at a campfire with family or friends.

Our campground is on the NW corner of Old US 27 and Batterson Road approximately 7 miles north of Grayling and 1 and 1/2 miles south of Frederic. The entrance is off Batterson Road. We welcome Horses, ATV's , ORV's ,5th wheels, motor homes, pop-ups and tents, Whether Canoeing on the Manistee or the Ausable River, Frederic Twp. has a great location for all of it.

( But wild parties are not a part of our program and minors must be accompanied by an adult.)
Our campground also boasts a 1950's style diner. Inspired by the everyday family cooking that we grew up with, you’ll feel at home while savoring a great meal in our casual and Non Smoking relaxed dining room. Experience our inventive cuisine, attentive service, and a friendly atmosphere; come see what makes us one of the most popular restaurants in town. On a personal note. Looking forward to seeing old friends from last year. And the new ones that will be ADDED to our great list of campers and Friends !!!

Our lovely campground is located on 26 wooded acres. Shady and Sunny sites are available. We have a total of 40 sites, most of which are pull-through and can accommodate 5th wheels and motor homes, we can also accommodate horses with water and electricity and ATV/ORV.
Our bathhouse is clean and has separate accommodations for men and women (ADA Approved). All sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash and you must clean up after them (keep your pooper scooper handy).
We also have 2 rustic cabins for sleeping only. They accommodate up to 4 people and also have fire pits and picnic tables. Bring your own sleeping bags or bedding.
Quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am, music turned down, children on their own sites and no loud outbursts.

Also take advantage of our Propane station and dumping station.

Shel-Haven Welcomes You

Shel-Haven Canoe Rental is located on the beautiful Manistee River, just 8 miles west of Grayling on M-72. We are open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and on the weekends in spring and fall. Any other time by appointment.

The Manistee River is very clean, the scenery is beautiful and the trips are the most peaceful you will ever experience. The wildlife is abundant – deer, ducks, beaver, mink, otter, turkey, and often the majestic bald eagle with their nests close by.

The Manistee River averages 2 to 4 feet deep and the current is moderate. It is fast enough to carry you with minimal paddling, but slow enough to make it perfect for even the most inexperienced.

The Manistee offers some of the best trout fishing you can find. The season is open from the lst Saturday in April to the last Saturday in September.

Even though the Happi Trails ATV club is no longer using Happi Days as their home base and meeting location, all club members and all ATV'ers are still welcome to come and make use of our services here at Happi Days. We are more than willing to meet your camping needs. Don't forget that we are conveniently located as a hub for the Crawford County trails with easy access for both horse and ATV riders. ATTENTION ALL SNOMOBILERS, ATV'ERS, AND WINTER ENTHUSIASTS,

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

In order for us to keep our park open this winter we need to have at least 15 permanent campers for the winter months. So call your friends, and your family and your friend's families, hook up your campers and trailers and come and join us for some great winter fun in the winter wonderland of northern Michigan. Keep in mind that even if we can't keep the park open this winter we will still allow you to park your vehicle and trailers on our lot for $5 a day. We have a great location as a central hub for all trails, both ATV and snowmobile. So bundle up and we'll see you here when the snow falls.
